Museum of Fine Arts: History and Politics

Much art work in HCMC/Saigon Fine Arts museum has a history or political aspect.
This piece is called 'Century Kiss' by Phan Quan Dung (1957).
It is brushed aluminum 220 x 130 cm.
It depicts Thang Long, the ancient Imperial Citadel located in Hanoi, facing modern Hanoi.
Thang Long was built during the Ly Dynasty and was the seat of the Vietnamese court until 1810.  This art celebrates the millennium from 1018 to 2018.  
Thang Long means Rising Dragon.
