Red Sandstone in Miltenberg (on the Main)

The main square of Miltenberg welcomed us to an old and well maintained town along the Main. It retained old buildings and old building materials. Most of the businesses in town were breweries!

There were frequently religious markers along the route. Here is a beautiful saint outside a church on the outskirts of Miltenberg. The red sandstone cliffs along the Main were beautiful and had clearly provided building materials for thousands of years.

We were surprised to see a monument for the pilgrims along Saint Jacob´s Way to Santiago de Compostela. After all, Miltenberg is 2,577 kilometers from the end point!
