St. Gotthard Pass

The Gotthard Pass rises to the south of the Reuss Valley. It is 2,108 meters and is famed as the pathway that the Romans took over the Alps. It is the portal to Italian areas of Switzerland, Ticino. It also has about a 20 km tunnel existing and a 40 km tunnel being built under the mountains. This was about a 600 meter climb for us.

Towering granite landscapes with broad shields at the top and a remarkable valley opening to the south and Ticino.
