Zurich Grossmunster Carving

The Zurich Grossmunster or Great Cathedral was built about 1100.
In the frenzy of the Reformation of the 1500s, many of the images were defaced.
The statue outside the main entrance is of Heinrich Bullinger, the Reformation leader after the death of Huldrich Zwingli in 1531.  Bullinger lived from 1504 to 1575.

Karl der Grosse:  Charlemagne. 742 - 814 AD
The leader who united much of central and western Europe in the Holy Roman Empire.
Presumably, the statue was defaced during the Reformation.
