Root Collar Excavation

 An 'Air Spade' is used to blow off soil and expose the root flare of this Beech tree.  Mulch and soil near the trunk contribute to the growth of fungus and disease.  Also, the exposed roots will be treated with an injection to help protect the tree against Beech Leaf Disease.
