We are now confronting some of the dislocation, uncertainty and fear that peoples have dealt with throughout history. Post war Americans who believed we are exceptional are finding otherwise.
One selfish reason to preserve Nature is the beauty and comfort that it brings. Of course, there are many other, better reasons to preserve the natural world and its creatures.

These statues were made in Egypt between about 500 BC and 200 AD. The religious temples and cities were defaced and later covered by the Mediterranean and only rediscovered 2,000 years later. One can witness the Egyptian religion dealing with death and the transfer of power. How haunting and beautiful these monuments are.
