Hike Catalina Island, off the coast of Los Angeles

Catalina (Santa Catalina) Island lies about 20 miles off the coast of Los Angeles.
It is the third largest of the Channel Islands.
It is 22 x 8 miles and has a population of about 4,000 people in two towns.
There is easy ferry service from Long Beach.
The Trans-Catalina Trail is about 37 miles long.
