7: Last Day of Hike, Down and Out

From Capanna Pairola 7 km and 1,000 meters down to the  bus stop at San Vico.
Here, we are at the Capanna looking southwest toward Lugano down the Val Colla.
The villages in the distance are within the transportation network of Lugano.
150 years ago the whole valley would have been deforested.

Initially, pasture grasses along the path then give way to regenerating scrubby Beech woods.

Farmsteads start to appear as the woods give way to urban areas.

This is the last 2019 posting from Lugano.
There were terrific storms the night we finished the hike.
The next day we boarded the train south for Bologna Italy.
