6: Calcareous Ridges, northeast of Lugano

 Ridges northeast of Lugano are formed by calcareous rocks.
Gentler slopes are still pastures.
Mugho Pine is recolonizing steeper ridge tops.
The Lake of Lugano shows its sinuous form  to the south.

 Wild Hellebores and sedges grow in limestone woods.

Beech trees are starting to grow back, although scrubby and struggling.

Eroded limestone can form jagged peaks resembling rotting teeth.
