The Leventine Valley of the Ticino River is a place of towering engineering works amid stones. In the photo below Alan is a small black dot under the highway bridge.

Two people picnic below along the Ticino River amidst the boulders.

The ancient church below is very plain, made of stone, surrounded by grape vines growing on a fence made of granite stones.

These old dwellings are made of stones and built into the cliffs. No longer inhabited.

There are many active granite quarries in the Ticino Valley.
