This place is beautiful, of course, but it really is.
It's so amazing to me how the Christian story of the birth of Jesus is already codified with the 3 Wise Guys and all. The small artifacts are so Celtic -- those steppes folk used leather strips for everything and invented (more or less) that under-over-under-over weave in their art, except they CARVED IT in freaking STONE. Celts claim everything of course -- I like to think of it more as the riders of the steppes, those vast frozen windswept plains that stretch up into Mongolia, with all the little ferocious ponies and small horses. I'm sure the mosquitos have always been terrible in the summer.
