Walking Reykjavik, September 4, 2025

Departure: September 4, 2025

We departed Reykjavik on September 4 evening.

The only day of sun for the next 10 days.

 Gathering clouds show approaching storms.

Westfjords Iceland

Because of gales in Denmark Strait, we are diverted to a glacial fjord in northwest Iceland.

Kayak in Vikingebugt

We have crossed the stormy Denmark Strait and reached the west coast of Greenland.

Scoresby Sund is a large fjord system, one of the largest in the world, and it offers protection.

Bredegletscher

The glaciers, which are outlets from the Greenland Ice Sheet, are receding.

Glacier ice can be tens of thousands of years old and contains air bubbles from past atmospheres.
